Blake Lively can now add hair care mogul to her resume. The actress, whose long, voluminous waves are part of her signature look, just launched her own hair care line — and we’re so excited to give this collection a try. The eight-product line, which was seven years in the making, finally launched at Target on Aug. 4. It includes shampoos, hair masks, a dry shampoo, a leave-in spray and a mousse — but conditioner is noticeably left out, and there’s a reason for that.

Lively spent seven years developing the Blake Brown line, which included testing “hundreds of iterations,” of products herself, she told People.
Blake Brown’s inaugural product launch includes two shampoos, two hair masks, a pre-shampoo treatment, a leave-in spray, a mousse and a dry shampoo. As for why there’s no conditioner in the line, Lively explained to People that she stopped using the popular product 20 years ago in favor of hair masks. These concentrated formulas yielded better results for her hair.
The shampoos and masks are divided into two systems: nourishing and strengthening. The systems are meant to be alternated, though Lively added that people should “really just listen to [their] hair,” and experiment with the regimen to find the best results for their unique hair.
From their appearance to their scent, Lively’s products have a luxurious air about them. “As someone who loves design desperately, I wanted it to look stunning on your shelf because that’s valuable space in your home, it should be beautiful,” she wrote on Instagram of the gold geometric-shaped packaging. “I also wanted scents that felt like fragrances I would actually buy as high-end perfume.”
Blake Brown includes products crafted from post-consumer recycled materials. “I wanted it to attempt to show how beautiful maximum sustainability can be,” Lively shared on Instagram. “I wanted it to be vegan, cruelty-free and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, synthetic dyes.”
Still, people may be wondering why Lively was inspired to create her own hair care line when she already had access to products that were working for her hair. “I wanted something that was more affordable but had the same salon/red carpet performance,” she shared on Instagram, noting that the top-tier products she used at home had staggering price tags to match. Lively’s line ranges from $19 to $25 per product.
