About the product
Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat review
Is Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat worth it?
You probably don't think about it much, but a doormat has an important role in keeping your home clean and you safe. It prevents you from tracking in dirt, extends the life of your carpets, helps keep your indoor air clean and can prevent slips and falls.
Gorilla Grip makes a heavy-duty all-season doormat that is waterproof yet comfortable on bare feet. It's rugged, comes in a variety of colors and features a dirt-gripping design to help keep mud and debris outside of your home, where it belongs.
BestReviews wanted to see how the Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat held up in a real-world situation, so the Testing Lab evaluated its performance. Here's what BestReviews discovered.
Testing the Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat
When BestReviews brings a product into its testing lab, the goal is to learn how it will perform, and if it will be a benefit to your day-to-day life. To get a comprehensive picture of a product, the testing team is made up of a combination of individuals who are experts, along with people who are new users. For the Gorilla Grip doormat, the team had a fun time tromping through grass, puddles, dirt, mud and more before wiping their feet to see how effective the mat was. The testing lab was brutal on the mat to gauge its durability and even tried various methods of cleaning.
What is the Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat?
The Gorilla Grip doormat is made with woven polypropylene fabric that has a natural rubber backing and beveled border. The raised fabric helps to trap dirt, while the rubber border keeps moisture and mud from entering your home. Although it's a heavy-duty mat, it's soft and flexible and features many stylish designs.
The mat arrived at the testing lab rolled up in a cardboard box. After opening, there was a strong rubber smell that took several days to fade. It felt well-made and extremely durable, like it would hold up even under aggressive use. The material felt tough enough to scrub clean the bottom of your shoes if you give them a good scuffing before entering the home. The only initial disappointing factor was the color — black looked too heavy and not very decorative. However, there are several other color options, so you definitely have the variety needed to choose a mat that's a perfect match for your home.

How to use Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat
The Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat is ready to use right out of the box. All you need to do is unroll it, clear the area where you're going to place it and set it down.
It's a heavy mat that is extremely grippy on the bottom, so it gives you a stable surface and doesn't slide around — you feel confident scuffing your shoes back and forth for a vigorous cleaning. Also, for as rugged as this mat is, it has a relatively low profile, so there was no stumbling or tripping along the edges.
If the mat gets wet from rain, it gets soggy, but that's by design, because it's made to trap moisture so you don't walk it into your house. Also, the lab noticed the mat dried up quickly when left out in the sun.
If you tend to run out of your house without shoes to toss something in the recycling bin or to grab an item out of your car, you'll be pleased to learn that the rough surface doesn't hurt your feet. The texture is obviously coarse, but it isn't uncomfortable.
As far as cleaning, BestReviews tried several methods. First, the lab ran a vacuum over the mat for a quick clean. The vacuum worked fine; it didn't suck up any part of the doormat or damage it in any way. Alternatively, you could use a broom to clean the mat off.
Another quick-cleaning technique involves picking the mat up and giving it a good whack on something firm, like the driveway, to dislodge set-in dirt and debris. After that, a strong shaking will do a good job of cleaning.
If it gets caked with mud — which at some point, it probably will — it's best to move it away from the house and give it a thorough spraying with a hose. If you opt to wash it, don't use bleach as this could damage the mat. When you're finished cleaning, leave the mat out in the sun to dry.
Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat benefits
The Gorilla Grip doormat is durable. It does a good job of cleaning your shoes and is available in a wide selection of colors and patterns. Though it costs a little more than low-end rubber mats, the testing lab determined the price was worthy of the quality, making it a good value.
Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat drawbacks
There aren't really any major drawbacks to report with this doormat. The chemical odor is strong when it arrives, but after a few days it isn't noticeable. There were some reviewers who had difficulty with cleaning, but BestReviews didn't find maintenance to be a problem. The only minor drawback is the mat is only available in a rectangle. If you have a rounded step or prefer a different shape, this might not be the best option for you.
Should you get the Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat?
If you're looking for a heavy-duty doormat that can be left outside year-round, the Gorilla Grip All-Season WeatherMax Door Mat is your answer. Not only does this doormat have a coarse texture to help remove dirt from the bottom of your shoes, it's easy to clean and reasonably priced. BestReviews calls it the "best of the best."
