These days, most people stream their favorite music or download it digitally to listen to on their phone, tablet or smart speakers. For music purists, though, there's no better way to enjoy your favorite songs than on vinyl.

But to listen to vinyl, you need a turntable to enjoy all the warm, rich sound.

It comes in over 20 colors, ranging from bold shades like sky blue and red to neutrals like black and brown. It has a three-speed, belt-driven turntable and sound-isolating feet on the bottom to reduce vibrations that might affect the music. It also features Bluetooth connectivity, so you can stream music from your phone or tablet on the record player.

How to use Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player

When trying out the Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player, the BestReviews Testing Lab found it was easy to set up, even if you’ve never used a turntable. It has an AC/DC adapter plug at the back of the unit that you insert in an outlet. Next, lift the buckle at the front of the record player to open the lid, and set the function knob to “Phono.”

The unit powers on when you turn the volume control knob clockwise until the red LED light illuminates. Set your record on the turntable, and choose the correct speed by sliding the selection switch to 33 1/3, 45 or 78. Next, open the tonearm clip to release the arm, and push the lift lever to raise it. Gently set the arm to your desired position over the record. The turntable starts moving when the arm is over the record, but push the lift lever forward and lower the arm to begin playing your music.

Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player benefits

For the BestReviews Testing Lab, the Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player stands out for its fun vintage appearance. Its colored leather exterior makes it look more like a vintage suitcase than a record player if you don’t see the feet at the bottom. The suitcase design also makes it travel-friendly. While the turntable’s speakers don’t offer the strongest sound quality, it's better than many similarly priced portable record players and provides deep, clear sound that isn’t too tinny.

Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player drawbacks

The Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player’s sound isn’t as rich as some users might like. To get that robust sound, you will need to connect your turntable to external speakers. In addition, while this model offers Bluetooth connectivity, it only has a Bluetooth In connection, not a Bluetooth Out connection. That means it can play music from your phone, but you cannot connect to Bluetooth speakers to play your records.

Should you get the Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player?

After trying the Victrola Vintage 3-Speed Bluetooth Portable Suitcase Record Player, the BestReviews Testing Lab believes it’s a great starter record player for new vinyl listeners. It’s easy to set up, and connecting it to external speakers can address any sound issues. Considering its price, it offers impressive sound quality that can be improved if you want to invest in speakers. The convenient on-the-go suitcase design is made for travel or college students who want a turntable in their dorm room or apartment. It works well for those who sell records at vinyl fairs or flea markets and want to showcase their offerings.
