Luckily, a cat litter deodorizer can help keep pungent litter box fumes from permeating your home while extending the life of your cat litter at the same time. Cat litter deodorizers come in 4 basic types: powders, granules, beads, and sprays. While powders can be extremely effective at combating odors, they're more likely to get tracked out of the litter box and might not be the best option for cats with respiratory problems. Granules tend to be smaller than most cat litters, but are still large enough to prevent tracking. Beads are even larger and produce no dust, but can also be scooped out and wasted a bit too easily. Sprays often pull double-duty by acting as both a litter box cleaner and litter deodorizer, but you should take care not to soak your litter. Most litter deodorizers rely on odor-absorbing agents like zeolite, baking soda, or borax combined with a fresh fragrance to help mask stubborn smells.
