The Magic Mixies Magical Misting Crystal Ball is an interactive children's toy with over 80 sounds and reactions. It comes with an 8-inch pink plush character. The included magic wand lets your children cast spells as the crystal ball reacts to how they wave the wand. When the child moves the wand upward, they can pitch their character's voice up and change the color of the smoke. Alternatively, the Mixie character's voice gets deeper when you move the wand downward. The crystal ball produces a colorful mist for added effect. 

The crystal ball’s packaging leaves it exposed, so you can see and touch the toy. The box features exciting pictures and colors. Although the toy is exposed, it's secured by several zip ties, ensuring it doesn't fall out of the box. 

Similar to the classic Magic 8-Ball, your child can hold the Mixie's belly and ask it a question to have it read their fortune. The Mixie doesn’t speak when answering questions. Instead, its gem lights up to reveal the answer.

The crystal ball doubles as a night-light, making it a smart choice for building a bedtime routine. However, rather than a continuous light, the light turns on and off to create a glowing effect.

How to use Magic Mixies Magical Misting Crystal Ball

The Magical Misting Crystal Ball comes with easy-to-follow instructions that guide you through making your first Mixie. After doing this, you'll have a solid understanding of how to use the magic wand. After mastering the wand movement and saying the magic word, “magikus mixus,” the ball will fill with mist. Once it clears, your child can see their new Mixie. 

To use the fortune-telling feature, children must squeeze the Mixie's belly and say the words “magikus fortunus.” Then, they can ask the Mixie a yes or no question. The light on the Mixie’s head changes color to answer the child’s question. Children can also use this feature to play a color-match game with the Mixie. 

The night-light feature has two modes: misting and lighting. The night-light stays on for 30 minutes before turning itself off. You’ll use a special liquid to create the colored mist. When you run out of it, you'll have to buy a Magic Mixies refill pack that can be used for 80 spells.

Between the night-light, fortune-telling, color-guessing game and magic spells, there are plenty of ways for children to use this toy. Our testing team and their children appreciated that they could repeatedly use the Mixie reveal spell.

Magical Misting Crystal Ball drawbacks

The night-light is a nice addition, but the fact it turns on and off may make it distracting when children are trying to sleep. Our testing team's children said they wished the Mixie spoke in a language they could understand. Additionally, the children wished that the Mixie sang songs they were familiar with.

Although it has numerous features to keep kids entertained, the price is incredibly high.

The Magic Mixies Magical Crystal Ball provides hours of fun. It's interactive and an inventive toy for children who love using their imagination. The wand, lights, sounds and misting feature all work very well. We recommend this to anyone looking for a gift for their child. However, at nearly $90, this may not be a practical choice when shopping on a budget.
